The Difference Between Dry Needling and Acupuncture

Similar to Acupucture, Dry Needling uses needles to penetrate myofacial trigger points in the muscle. This technique helps release knots by allowing more blood flow and relieve muscle pain.

A big difference between Acupunture and Dry Needling is Dry Needling focuses exclusively on treating musculoskeletal and neuromuscular pain by releasing trigger points. Acupuncture restores energy flow, while dry needling targets dysfunctional muscle trigger points.

Dry Needling uses less needles than Acupuncture, and often times is paired with electric stimulation to enhance the effects of the treatment.
